I really feel guilty about giving them to goodwill, because the sound is _so_ bad. Seriously. I would throw them away, but that seems like such a waste since they are brand new. I purchased another set of low cost speakers at the same time: Logitech S220 2.1 Speaker System (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RQSGYO/ref=ox_ya_oh_product), and the Logitech speakers are so much better for just a little bit more money. Stay away from the Cyber Acoustics 2.0 if you want to use them for music or movies.
I am giving these a 5-star rating because for a recording/mixing/mastering reference, they are GREAT. For the average "music listener" that wants to use these to listen to their music, these speakers suck. I use them to do balances and EQ because their low end is really weak. Their frequency response hardly goes down to even 100Hz (if that) which means they will not have much kick drum or bass. So, if you're buying these for QUALITY, then go somewhere else--they really aren't that good. If you are a recording or mixing engineer in search of a "lofi speaker system" on which to check mixes, these are really awesome for that. Make sure not to get the USB ones, get the ones with the 1/8" jack.
At high and low volume. I used them for everything and the sound just sucks. I was attracted by the price (which is why they get a 2)but the sound sucks. I can not recomend them with good faith. I went back to using the speakers that are built into my moniter because they sounded better.
The speakers are adequate and a good value for the price, but if you want really good sound from your computer, you should look for something else.
While it worked, it was awesome. I'm giving this product a 4 mainly cos it stopped working after I had it for a yr and it worked perfectly before it malfunctioned. No hard feelings seeing as it was only $15 when I bought it and its worked its money's worth but a minor inconvenience since I have to look for another to replace it. Volume was great especially when connected to a PC or laptop and even talking on skype. Bottom line: It's great for the price but then again highly susceptible to break down so don't be surprised if and when it does
